Regis' break-in attempt goes about as well as Latha's. Despite some clever use of industrial equipment, the man remains dangerously naive. It falls to Max to salvage this mess, with some surprise help from the maidbot from Van der Waal's place. By now our culprits are known: Galatea, seemingly an assistant to Central's creator, Vargas, is the one that hired the Mindjacker. He, in turn, was brain-poisoned by Baxter's hatred of Regis, and nearly botched the entire plan by trying to blow up Latha as a way of getting back at him. You can probably guess where that's going, but there is another, less expected family relation as well.

First thing's first, however: the aerostat is in flight and the bad guys have some metal and muscle in the way. With Regis still recovering, Max takes the lead and gives chase, puzzling her way to the top of the ship. And though Chantelle's body is out of power again, we're not done with her just yet...
