Let's Play The Banner Saga [Part 15] - Gunnulf, Though

Let's play more of The Banner Saga. It's Studio Stoic's Stoiciest strategy/RPG hybrid game with turnbased combat and weird choose your own adventure gameplay. Cool beans, and so forth.

In this episode we fight more dredge, but this time around they have some dredge slingers with them. Dredge slingers are ranged units, and they do add it little more variety to the combat, which I think was much needed from a gameplay standpoint. A problem with the combat in The Banner Saga is that it does feel kind of repetitive since most units are very similar in terms of the options that they have, and only rarely does the environment play a major role. Luckily, the game adds some variety through initial positioning, the willpower stat, and unique abilities given to each class. That said, the addition of new unit types certainly helps out.

Also, remember Gunnulf? He's the total badass with the big sword and can do an attack that hits a bunch of adjacent units all at once. He plays a major role in this episode, and proves that he's a god damn warrior.
