Let's Play Pillars of Eternity [11] - Black Meadow Shipment

Got some of that Pillars of Eternity gameplay for you all from my playthrough as a Godlike Cipher. Last time we ventures out to do the Smith's Shipment quest from the Gilded Vale blacksmith. We went through Magran's Fork, and picked up the priest of Magran called Durance as a follower. He's probably my favourite companion in Pillars of Eternity so far, since his personal backstory and companion narrative relates back to the main storyline and plot of Pillars of Eternity as a whole, so I'm pretty glad we did. Also, he's a total jerkintosh, and I love it. But enough about Durance.

We actually didn't quite finish Magran's Fork last episode, so we finish that area up this episode. The gameplay has gotten a bit easier since we left the Temple of Eothas and got Durance to join our party, so I'm happy about that. We're doing pretty well in combat, so we finished the area without much of an issue and moved on the the Black Meadow. Now, the Black Meadow is filled with dragon skeletons or drake skeletons or something, which freaked me out the first time, since I thought we would have to fight a dragon. Luckily not, since we mostly have to deal with forest trolls and wichts, which are an undead type of enemy. Luckily, the gameplay mechanic of per encounter abilities comes in handy here, with Durance getting a buff that also does burn damage to vessels since he's a preist. Vessel is the Pillars of Eternity word for undead I think, but I'm not 100% sure. I mean, I could probably check a wiki or even the in-game bestiary, but I'd like to focus a little more on the gameplay than the lore when I'm recording these gameplay videos.

I mean, I already spend way too much time on trivial decisions like which abilities to pick at level up, and which spells to learn, and which spells to use. In my defense, though, that's kind of how you play a crpg. You have to read about the gameplay effects of all of your choices, so as to choose the ones best for your situation. Some people say Pillars of Eternity is too easy and stuff, but I'm at least finding that I have to try and optimize a little to ensure that the gameplay remains manageable. You all saw how much trouble I had with the goddamn Shadows in the Temple of Eothas. I need it.

So where was I? Oh yeah, we were doing a sidequest to find the smith's shipment in the Black Meadow. Well, we find it this episode, anyway.
