Let's Play Pillars of Eternity [6] - Temple of Eothas

Let's play some more Pillars of Eternity. Remember how we killed that bear last episode and found out what really happened through the use of our magical Watcher superpowers? Well, we go an confront Nonton about that. In the process we level up.

I then spend entirely too long leveling up our characters because I enjoy that aspect of Pillars of Eternity. I mean, the gameplay is fun, but character creation also sort of counts as gameplay too. You're making choices, you're interacting with the game. I think it's gameplay, and if not I still think it's an enjoyable part of Pillars of Eternity.

Don't worry, though, we do eventually get combat in this part of the playthrough. We head back to the temple of Eothas, where that dude Wirtan gave us a quest to gather the remains of the priests of Eothas so that he could put them to rest. Turns out, our party is not as strong as I thought we were, and we struggle a bit on the first floor. The spiders are one thing, but a Skuldrs are the real annoyance. The problem with pausable realtime gameplay is that it's hard to avoid getting overwhelmed by a large crowd of enemies, especially when you yourself don't have anywhere close to a full part of adventurers, and this applies the Pillars of Eternity for sure. That being said, I might just be salty because that game was giving me a hard time.
