Aside from the beautiful art style of the game and the spooky music which helps build up the atmopshere, the first case is just the right length to act as the introduction to the games mechanics and the setting. You're not swamped with too many inventory items, locations to examine or NPCs to interact with and the story is relatively straightforward, if laden with cliché and enough cleverly placed satire that it blends seamlessly with the buddy cop dynamic McQueen and Dooley have going on.
Some of you have likely already guessed who the villain in the missing child case is and how we're going to deal with them, but the case that follows on aftewards isn't so much an open book as it is shelves upon shelves of them that growing both dustier and spoopier by the hour. It's up to us to stop a rapidly evolving situation from growing worse, if only we knew what was going on in the first place.
