A playthrough of "River Styx" (Map29) of Final Doom: TNT Evilution for PC, played through GLBoom-plus. 100% kills, 100% secrets (Max-Kill).

At least this one is a solid map. The detail is what stands out with this one. Starting out navigating the map's titular location, moving into a large marble fortress of sorts, and then having to fight tooth and nail to finish successfully... it's all in a day's work. It's fun, in all the right ways. It isn't without it's flaws though.

Weapon ammo and balance is great, and if you have the BFG from a previous map you can do a few cool shots with it. The small spot with the Chaingunners at the Soul Sphere comes to mind. Picking up the rocket launcher is key and it happens to be right in plain view, but can still be missed if you aren't paying attention. The secrets are all close together and two are easy to find, which helps.

High amounts of action all the way through this one. It even comes with the third and final Spider Mastermind in all of TNT... you know, come to think of it, Doom 2 had more of them in it than this. 5 to 3? Come on, TNT, you can put more difficult monsters in these maps. Regardless, at least this one is in a rather unique situation, but it makes her a bit easy to pick off with a single string of SSG shots.

Each key in this map is very well guarded, except the Blue Key which you can get and completely ignore the Arch-Vile in the room behind it. Red being guarded by the previously mentioned Mastermind, and the Yellow Key... well, that one's a nightmare. Arch-Vile up on the high ground, the area around it with Mancubi and Arachnotrons. It's enough that use of the Plasma Rifle was preferred over the BFG, just for the better hiding ability.

The marble maze is a bit of a pain because of the strange setup on the crushing ceiling. Also the fact it's a maze doesn't help it any either, but it's not terrible. It just all looks the same. On the plus note, it's the green marble texture, which isn't that awful rocky, ashy texture we've been looking at for 5 maps solid.

Solid map, tough as all hell towards the end, so bring your skill because you'll need it.
