A playthrough of "Heck" (Map28) of Final Doom: TNT Evilution for PC, played through GLBoom-plus. 100% kills, 100% secrets (Max-Kill).

So we're finally done with all of the awful that TNT has brought us, aside from part of one map yet to come. We come back with a preview of things to come from Plutonia with this map, designed by Milo Casali, who is one half of the "Casali Brothers". Anything with the name Casali attached to it becomes an immediate gem, and right off hand there isn't a map that comes to mind that has been considered as bad, at least not designed by them.

Off-topic info aside, this map is one of the cream of the crop. Tough as nails, but not unfair. Enough health and ammo to go around with a nice balance, and it makes you try. The traps are nasty, but once again, not unfair. Everything in this map can be handled with caution or some practice. This includes the Arch-Vile trap with the Pain Elementals, who can't even spit Lost Souls at you without some help from you.

The architecture is Casali-standard, with more natural landscaping to things instead of a realistically represented mess. Attention to detail isn't overdone, and it's just right to give the map some atmosphere without having to go into severe detail to look good.

Overall this is a textbook Casali map. Nothing out of the ordinary, solid design, layout, gameplay, weapon/ammo balancing, monster traps, and attention to detail. It's, literally, STANDARD for the Casali Brothers, and it literally blows most of the rest of TNT away. Think about it. When textbook/standard for a set of brothers blows the shit out of most of the rest of the map set it comes with? Something is seriously wrong. TNT would have been amazing if it had even half as much fun as this, 13, 15, 31, 03, and 09.
