Let's Play: TNT Evilution - Map30 - Last Call
A playthrough of "Last Call" (Map30) of Final Doom: TNT Evilution for PC, played through GLBoom-plus. 100% kills, 100% secrets (Max-Kill).
At long last, the final map of TNT Evilution... and of course, they decide to use the worst music in the game, and have a collection of hodge-podge bad ideas all steamrolled into one bad map. It's almost fitting to end TNT on a bad note, as it leaves a foul taste in your mouth to remember it by. Reminding you to stay away from this cluster of terribad.
The beginning is easily the most stupid idea in all of TNT. Let's make you figure out the path across the lava by having you either write down or just flat out memorize the ORDER of the TORCHES at the start of the map. You know, the color of them. It's ridiculous and asinine. It makes me wonder if TNT was just grasping for good ideas at this point, deciding that putting a maze, over lava, that instantly kills you at the first wrong turn, was a fantastic idea for the final map.
Luckily you get the luxury of having someone explain how to go through it without needing to know the torches!
The hardest part of this map, honestly, is the section with all the Revenants. It's mostly open but there are places to hide, as long as you can run back behind the pillars you shouldn't have issues with them. At least, not many. Handle them as best as you can.
Another dumb idea in this one is how the monsters pop up in cages that are through narrow windows. Seriously? They will have just as much problem hitting you as you will them. They MIGHT be dangerous if you stand there and taunt them, yelling "Hey, dumb demon, shoot me like a little bitch!" or something like that.
The fight with the boss is a bit tricky. You gotta press the switch to raise the stairs, and then stand on the top STEP, not actually the platform itself. Only then can you fire rockets into the Baphomet's exposed brain and destroy him for good, sending him back into the fires of Hell from where he came! And with perfect timing, because too many more awful maps and I might lose my sanity...
And with that, TNT comes to a close. Hopefully you've enjoyed this, and I'll see you guys in Final Doom: The Plutonia Experiment!
