As is tradition with these kind of games the endgame research tends to dump a lot of plot at you, plot that explains almost everything that's been going on not only the game you're playing but previous games in the series as well. Aftershock is no exception, the scientists on the Laputa have really outdone themselves in joining the dots and in my opinion taking some wild guesses to come up with answer that make sense.

But the plot dump has an important payoff, the final mission. It's this mission that the game had been building up to, one that might not be entirely unexpected if you've played the first game.

At 19:47 I had to cut out a few seconds of video due to seriously garbled audio that couldn't be fixed after recording. Nothing was said in those seconds lost.
