Let’s Replay Action 52 (Gen) #05: Choose-Your-Own-Plot
132I haven’t read the instruction booklet for this game and if I had, it certainly wouldn’t have been to check out the plot of each game I’m playing. The reason for this is that I highly doubt there is anything written about the plot of any of the experiences I’m having and if there is, it’s likely throwaway in nature. Only a few of the games have splash screens and of those we’ve seen, none of them explain the plot in any way, leaving it up to us to figure out just what’s going on and why.
Your imagination is however the best way to get some amusement out of the games on offer, coming up with absurd storylines for what’s happening on the screen. It’s where characters like Rocket Jockey McGee and his knowledge of the history of rocket jockeying came from – he himself is a character from the NES game – as well as some of the more absurd plot lines that you’ll see in this playthrough. As far-fetched as they are, they do add a glimmer of light to an otherwise dreary experience and a farcical one at that.
