The closer we get to the second portal, the more we’re seeing the effects of its presence upon the world. The caverns themselves are being corrupted, twisted into a reflection of the fiendish landscape we saw when we were pulled through the first portal and let me tell you, it’s not something I’m happy to see. Dealing with lava on top of all the demons just makes our life more challenging, forcing us not just to doge but to be mindful of where we’re dodging to.

The area immediately before the portal is so indistinguishable from the other dimension that you’d be forgiven for thinking that we accidentally stumbled through another portal. It’s also where the coolest secret in the game is hidden, one that I showed off in the original playthrough but want to show again for those that may not have watched that run.
