As we get closer to the heart of the spaceport, it’s clear that the demons are already hard at work bringing their own architecture to Earth, complete with horribleness. We’re still going to see lots of mundane buildings but the interiors of them will slowly shift towards the outlandish and that’s not even bringing into account teleporters and the like. All this is old hat for Doomguy however, who literally went to another dimension to bring the fight to the demons last time he did battle with them.

That said, we mustn’t get complacent. A lot more is at stake this time compared to before, as we’re trying to save what remains of the human race from being destroyed. In the novels this didn’t go as well as it will here, but then in the novels the protagonist wasn’t as absurdly overpowered as Doomguy is. What makes Doomguy so much stronger compared to everyone else in the setting isn’t explained here, but it’s a good thing that he is otherwise this’d be a very short game. Perhaps the Nightmare difficulty setting is how it would more accurately be, with you at a huge disadvantage and desperately seeking the exit to avoid being overwhelmed.
