After the terror mission that had no right to go so well, you’d think that things would quieten down for a while. Unfortunately the alien attack will never stop unless we stop it, which means that it’s business as usual for X-COM. That said, business as usual will change somewhat when we research the heavy plasma clip, allowing us to not only use the weapon itself but also manufacture extra of both weapon and ammo should we need it. Once we have that, we’ll be fighting somewhat on par with the aliens for the first time, using a powerful weapon that outclasses the laser rifle in almost everything barring ammo capacity. Researching that weapon leads to something potentially even more important than that however, a weapon that’ll do more than equal a different playing field.

We don’t have a lot of ammunition for the heavy plasma weapons we possess however, meaning that we can’t equip everyone with one just yet. Our stockpile of ammunition for it will grow in time and we can always manufacture more of it if we have to. I’d rather now however, for elerium is a scant resource that is used in some very important things in the late game. Even with that in mind, it’s a step in the right direction that brings us one pace closer to potential victory.
