I got this game through the itch.io Racial Justice bundle. In Knights of the Card Table you (adventurer) dive into dungeons to fight monsters. Dungeons have different depths, and are constructed of a card stack. You are shown 4 cards at a time, and you can choose what cards to interact with and in what order. As cards are used (or fought) new cards are revealed. Some cards help you (giving you extra attack) some are monsters, and others can hurt you (poison). You have to plan your moves to maximize your effect, and whist I didn't find anything I played overly difficult, it still felt great to get a good setup and execution going.

There are extra things in game such as getting different heroes, weapons, and armor, that help keep the play from getting too stale. I found in my experience that the base hero and weapon worked for me, but I can see the value in bringing in different pairings as the dungeons evolve.

I could tell pretty quickly that this was a game originally made for mobile. Not because of the quality (which is high!) but because of the amount of effort put into the ease of controls. This is not a difficult game to navigate, which is great, because for a game with such a simple premise, awkward controls would ruin it immediately.

Overall a lot of fun, and I actually think this is one of those instances where I'd recommend playing the mobile version.
