I picked this game up from the Racial Justice bundle from itch.io.

Headliner sits in the same category of games as Papers Please and Beholder: Your choices affect the lives of those under your "control". In headliner, you act as the lead director for a news paper (GalMedia) and every day you've given a pile of articles that you have to approve for publication or deny. Your choices are pretty quickly reflected in the world at large whilst walking home. Your work choices can also affect your home life. Your partner and child have their own things going on, and how you react to them, and your choices at work, change the course of the conversation and relationships.

The game isn't subtle about the subject matter which effectively thinly-veiled covers for racism, fascism, LGTBQA+ issues, nationalism, and i think they're even sneaking some anti-vax into the mix. I opted to basically become Fox news, which is to say "a horrible rag that leans hard into the worst things the game can throw at me" just to see how far it was willing to go. It was willing to go _pretty far_ it turns out, and I gotta respect that And yes I did feel icky being as horrible as I can me, but you don't have to take that route; you can be balanced (and maybe cost you your promotion), you can lean hard left or hard right, and there are consequences.

Headliner's an interesting, if somewhat obvious, game, and a run only takes an hour or so, so you can explore the different endings. There's also a newer, fancier Headliner game that I'm sure I'll get to at some point.
