I've had Overland in my backlog for a long time. I cannot recall when I picked it up, other than I got it for relatively cheap, so I took the chance.

Overland is a stressful roguelike game where you, a survivor, have to drive from the East coast of the USA to the West coast. It doesn't actually explain _why_ but you've got a car and some ambition and only gasoline and the horrible crystal monsters stand in your way. I will say that this game plays very well, has great sound engineering, and the writing is very enjoyable.

The main thrust of the game is all about risk/reward choices. Do you attack mobs an risk triggering more to show up? Do you spend an extra turn looting? Do you kill people and take their stuff or not? You have to choose, and there will be punishments. With it being a roguelike game, sometimes mother RNG is in your favor, and other times it is not. My experience was far more in the "not" column.

I was not personally a fan of the game, in that I simply found it too stressful to be fun. I know that this is 100% someone else's jam, and I respect that. This is a very well-built game. It delivers on exactly what it sets out to do; it's just that what it's delivering doesn't do it for me.
