Let's Try: Pulstario
I picked this game up from the Racial Justice bundle from itch.io.
I walked into this game expecting something quiet. Reflective, perhaps. The game is described as you flying around and saving lost souls. That it only takes 30 minutes to get through. I was lied to.
Pulstario is a gravity-driven hardcore flying game where you pilot a rocket that wants nothing more than to plummet straight down and explode. You have to wrangle this suicidal rocket by flying it around as drunkenly as possible to collect pac-man pellets on the map. If you touch anything other than these pellets, you die and reset to the starting point. This game is hard. I died.. a lot. It demands a _lot_ of skill and precision. The only person you can get mad at playing this game is you and your stupid dumb fingers.
The soundtrack is solid, which a bunch of tracks that are all reminiscent of other games. I picked up some StarCraft and Diablo influences, but whilst sounding similar, it's still very much it's own thing.
Oh did I mention this game features limited lives, and a speedrun mode? Because it does. It also has achievements and secrets to unlock. There's a lot to love for a game that only costs a dollar.
For the record I beat it in 37 minutes or so.
