GREETINGS PEOPLE OF THE INTERNET!
I AM LUCHA MAN! And welcome to LUCHA MAN Reviews!

Today I review a film from a series that was long overdue in the making and reviewing. It came out December 8th. While the film is good, in all seriousness, you need to watch with caution depending on your mindset.

Before the review, I have a SERIOUS topic that needs to be covered. A character in the film is struggling with the idea of taking their own life. And by the end of the film, the prevention number and website are displayed. This is a serious topic that should NOT be taken lightly. If you or somebody you know needs help, here is the info.

Phone Number: 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
Website: https://988lifeline.org/

"We can all help prevent suicide. The 988 Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States."

Monk was a USA Network series that ran from 2002-2009, for eight seasons. Mr. Monk is a detective with phobias and OCD, and while they limit him being able to interact with the world, it helps him with solving difficult cases. The series was good overall, with several good episodes. But it is listed as a dramady, half funny and half sad. Some episodes hit the sad notes, and some episodes or parts of episodes had a few cringe moments. Overall, the series gets a 9 out of 10. Along with all the good parts of the series including the writing and characters, the good thing was how the series ended. It didn't run too long or get cut early, and it came full circle with some level of closure.

The film itself acknowledges the events that have happened in the world for the last few years, and how Mr. Monk, now retired, is dealing with them. The main plot is that somebody close to Monk suffers a tragedy, and he has to come out of retirement to solve the case again. He is teamed back up with everyone we have seen in the show for the most parts to solve this case. It helps to have seen the show to get and understand a few parts.

The film is about 30 min. longer than a typical episode, so it has the right length of time. The first half of the film is in a dark place, a bit darker than the series normally went. And while we get some jokes here and there, it gets lighter near the end, with still some darkness. And I will admit, when the crime happened, as someone who has watched the show a lot, I had an idea on how the crime was committed, and was pleasantly surprised to find out I was correct.

In the end, the film ends on a good note. It was interesting to see this film, and I had discovered a different film had been planed before this one. One person from the series was a no-show and another character got replaced, but this was something I think me and fans of the series are glad to get. I just would have preferred they toned it down with the dark themes. I give the movie a 7 out of 10.

Thank you for watching, and for reading this part.
