I just beat Lufia 2 and was inspired to start a low level game, mostly as an excuse to do all the stuff I neglected to do on the normal playthrough (namely, the Ancient Cave sidequest).

Rules?

* the game must be completed with the lowest possible party average, the hero/Maxim finishing at lv. 6.
* uh, that's it?

I don't impose any other rules whatsoever, and the characters who I'm not finishing the game with are allowed to fight enemies and gain levels with no limits at all.

I'm using the guide on GameFAQs for general instructions, even though the experience distribution suggested is entirely different there.

The first boss is a joke. Two boomerangs are used. Maxim gains some levels.

Catfish is actually hard and requires a few resets. I had to use a Life Potion to increase Maxim's HP by 3 (or was it 5? I can't remember exactly) as I was having too much trouble. The tactic here is to use a Boomerang (best form of dealing damage at this point) only when Maxim is at full health. However, two quakes used one following another is a game over, as is the Shock spell, so some luck is needed. I didn't bother going for his jewel, though I regretted it later.

After that, we got Tia. She's a temporary character, meaning I was able to grind with her to my heart's content. I got Foomy, my first capsule monster, and evolved him to his second form.

The third boss was easy. Maxim and Tia get rid of the boss and when he's gone Maxim dies in order to abstain from getting any experience.

Camu wasn't too hard either. I killed off Maxim beforehand since he was just wasting space in my party (I didn't have a second Kukri so his damage inflicting capabilities were terrible). Guy did good damage with his IP attacks (the boss is vulnerable to lightning) and Tia did most of the work with her spells. Once the boss is dead, I killed Guy and risked by killing the remaining minions with Tia's Gale spell (those guys are weak to ice) without healing to get done with it faster.

A mostly easy sequence.
