Mario Kart 64 - Star Cup 150cc
0Next up is the Star Cup on 150cc, and this is where I start using save states because of how difficult the Star Cup is on 150cc. I don't like how the Red Shells work in this game, they don't follow a path to the player, they just go into a wall, this is very notable on Bowser's Castle, which is why I find that track very tricky on 150cc.
I play as Peach in this one, and the tracks are Wario Stadium, Sherbet Land, Royal Raceway, and Bowser's Castle. While I don't mind the tracks from the Star Cup, they can be challenging on 150cc, for Wario Stadium, there is the bumps and turns throughout the course, Sherbet Land has the Penguins which act as obstacles, and there is Bowser's Castle with the Thwomps.
I did want to show off Peach's Castle on Royal Raceway, it can easily be done on Time Trials, but as I am using save states through Nintendo Switch Online, I can go to the castle, and then back to the beginning of the race, this was one of my favourite references back when I first played Mario Kart 64, I would go into Time Trials, pick Royal Raceway, and drive around Peach's Castle, this was the one thing I really liked back in the day, because Super Mario 64 was a game that I played back on the Nintendo 64, and it was good seeing the castle in this game.
As with the tracks and which Mario Kart game they return to, Sherbet Land and Bowser's Castle are in Mario Kart Wii, and Royal Raceway is in Mario Kart 8, where I liked how it was redesigned, even though you couldn't visit the castle, and Wario Stadium is the only track in Mario Kart 64 that has ever returned in any Mario Kart game which have Retro Tracks.
