It is time to go through Eterna Forest, and I meet up with a woman named Cheryl, who wants me to help her in case we run into Team Galactic. With Cheryl, I can encounter two wild Pokémon at once, and her partner Pokémon, Chansey, has a bunch of support based moves, so we will need all we can to get through Eterna Forest.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

Cheryl is the first battle partner in the game, and her Chansey has Healer for its Ability, so if you end up getting poisoned by Budew's Poison Point, there is a 30% chance that Chansey's Ability will activate and heal your status condition. Chansey's moves are Sweet Kiss, Disarming Voice, Tail Whip, and Life Dew, so it is all about support. You can fight the Trainers in a Double Battle, and Cheryl can help you out in those battles, but her Chansey isn't much of a damage dealer, Life Dew is a helpful move in healing both Pokémon on Chansey's side of the field.
There are a bunch of new encounters, and this is the right time to go over Wurmple, this Pokémon can evolve into either Silcoon or Cascoon at random, it's not based on time of day or gender, it's based on personality value, but you can find Silcoon in Brilliant Diamond, and Cascoon in Shining Pearl, and there is a very rare chance you can even encounter the fully evolved Beautifly, which is in Brilliant Diamond, while you can find Dustox in Shining Pearl. Beautifly, which evolves from Silcoon, is the more offensive out of the two, it has great Special Attack for this early on, and it gets Gust upon evolution, and it does get some nice moves like Stun Spore and Morning Sun, while it is a good early-game Pokémon, it does start to fall behind the rest of the team later in the game. As for Dustox, which evolves from Cascoon, it is the more defensive out of the two, it isn't as much as a damage dealer than Beautifly is, but it can make use of Poison Powder and Venoshock early in the game, and it eventually learns Toxic through level up, while good early game, it becomes less useful later in the game.
The next one is Buneary, it is a Normal-type Pokémon, I do not recommend getting one with Klutz, because this prevents Buneary from ever using held items. It does evolve through Friendship, but this is a tricky one, because Buneary starts off with 0 Friendship, but it does get some nice moves like Baby-Doll Eyes early on, and eventually Charm in later levels, its best stat is Speed, and while it is not that strong of a Pokémon when it evolves, it can be useful with moves like Charm to lower its opponent's Attack.
Then for the version exclusives, in Brilliant Diamond, you can find Murkrow, they only appear at night. Murkrow can be tricky to catch as it has a lower catch rate, so hope for luck with your Dusk Ball. Murkrow is a Dark/Flying-type with a good Speed stat and solid attacking stats, and it learns some nice moves like Wing Attack and Assurance through level up, and to evolve it, it requires a Dusk Stone, you can get one very early through Pickup, which Pachirisu can get for its Ability, but it is a very rare chance starting from Level 11. As for when to evolve Murkrow, all of Murkrow's level up moves can be relearned when it evolves, and it does learn some great moves like Night Slash and Sucker Punch, and its highest stat is Attack, I recommend Super Luck, so that way Murkrow can get a lot of critical hits in battle.
In Shining Pearl, you can get Misdreavus, which can only appear at night, so there is your Ghost-type Pokémon for early on in the game, Misdreavus will have Confusion for its Special move, its next one is Hex at Level 23, and like Murkrow, you will need a Dusk Stone to evolve Misdreavus. When it is evolved, it can relearn some very interesting moves, like Shadow Ball, Power Gem, Magical Leaf, Mystical Fire, and many other moves, so it has excellent type coverage. Its best stats are Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed, so it is a good Ghost-type option for Shining Pearl players.
When you get to the end of Eterna Forest, Cheryl will leave, and the nice thing about battle partners is that your Pokémon will be fully healed at the end of every battle, and unfortunately, you don't get the Soothe Bell from her in this game, because I remember you do in Platinum, which would have been nice, as you get Buneary in Eterna Forest, and that thing takes forever to evolve if it has a Base Friendship of 0, unlike Pokémon like Budew or Zubat, where they start with at least 50.
There is the mossy rock in Eterna Forest, this is where you can evolve Eevee into Leafeon, but you won't have access to Eevee until after completing the main story in this game. The last bit of the video is evolving a bunch of Wurmple in an attempt to get Cascoon, and training up some Pokémon so they can be available to use if I need to.
