Max Payne Walkthrough Part 20: The Deep Six
0Max descends into the Deep Six, military bunker and testing facility built below Cold Steel foundry to create Valkyr and test it on captured subjects. As he investigates the facility, Max comes across a computer terminal containing information on Project Valhalla, secret project started by US government in 1991 whose aim was to create a drug that would be used as combat performance booster by US armed forces, Valkyr having been result of the project research. However, while Valkyr's test subjects have developed increased stamina and strength, side effects of the drug were insanity and increased proneness towards violence, resulting in test subjects becoming rabid, vicious killers with severely warped sense of reality who also developed addiction to the drug, resulting in Project Valhalla being deemed a failure and officially cancelled in 1995. Despite this, it is also revealed that mysterious woman and killer suits took control of the project after it was cancelled and continued manufacturing Valkyr underground with intention of perfecting it, having struck a deal with Punchinello Crime Family who would sell Valkyr on the streets of New York City as designer drug, unknowingly testing it on the city's addict population. However, to make things even worse, it is revealed that woman ordered the death of Max's family, having sent drugged up test subjects to Payne family home three years prior under the guise of testing their abilities in an urban setting...
