Mega Man X is the first sequel series to the original Mega Man franchise, as well as being the best known.

This game and Mega Man 6 were released between 1993 - 1994, depending on if you were in Japan or North America.

I will make videos of both this game & Mega Man 7 around the same time, along with other playlist I'm doing or plan to do. I already have a playlist for Mega Man X2, but it's abridged and mostly focuses on Boss Battles.

The playlist for this game, however, will contain a more solid playthrough of the game where I intend to get everything, including the secret Hadoken technique.

--------------

The story of the game takes place 30 years after the Mega Man Classic series ended, though how that series ends, we'll probably never know...

Before then, Dr. Light made his finest creation: Mega Man X

Unlike the original, X has the ability to make his own decisions, as well as convey human emotions. This allows him the potential of being either a very benevolent or a very violent being. Dr. Light won't be able to live long enough to see how X prospers, so he can only hope that he falls into the right hands.

In the future, a scientist and archaeologist known as Dr. Cain finds X sealed in his capsule. Cain reads the message Dr. Light wrote on the capsule, which is what is shown here in the game's intro. Cain then frees X, and is impressed by his capabilities. He uses X data to create clones of him called Reploids that would help the Earth. Amongst these Reploids yields Cain's greatest creation, Sigma.

One day however, some of the Reploids became berserk and started attacking people. They were now called Mavericks. Sigma starts and leads a group known as the Maverick Hunters to destroy them all, but then he, too, became a Maverick, and their leader at that! As the Maverick Leader, Sigma declared war against humanity, claiming all humans to be useless & inferior.

X ends up being a pacifist during his life activated, but with the world in danger of Sigma's wrath, he had to do something about it. Replacing Sigma as the leader of the Maverick Hunters is Zero, a robot much like X himself, but more powerful.

Mega Man X temporarily gives up his pacifism to team up with Zero to stop Sigma and the rest of the Mavericks from taking over the world.

--------------

This game introduces the Intro Stage, something that hasn't been seen in Mega Man before. This will always come before you are able to pick a boss stage for yourself.

At the start of this game, the gameplay is very similar to at least Mega Man 4. You can't slide here but that will be made up for later. One new ability you have here that you would never have in the Classic series is to Wall Jump, and unlike most version of the Wall Jump, you can have X keep scaling up the same wall instead of going back and forth.

Starting with Mega Man 4, Mega Man could charge his Mega Buster for more damage. This is retained here for X's X-Buster.

--------------

At the end of this stage, X has to face Vile. Vile, just like Sigma, used to be a Maverick Hunter before he became an actual Maverick.

He fights you in his Ride Armor. This fight is utterly impossible to win, so try as you might, he'll still be very close to killing you.

When your health gets low enough, Vile grabs X and prepares to finish him off.

But then someone attacks Vile from a distance, and frees X from his grips. It was Zero to the rescue!

Vile was able to escape, unfortunately, and X bemoans that he wasn't strong enough to beat him. Zero encourages his friend to keep getting stronger, as he hasn't unleashed his full potential yet. X may one day become as powerful as Zero himself!

So then X & Zero split up to find more information on Sigma and his high-ranked Mavericks.
