What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Hard man? Unfortunately, there's no penises in this stage but it's still pretty easy to swallow. Put some distance between you so you can react. Keep your distance when the nest drops and get ready to take them out as soon as they land. You need to jump or slide across these floor drops to avoid getting snatched. Most people think you can't beat this stage without using Rush. All you need to do is hold the right button on controller 2 and you'll be able to high jump. This also prevents you from dying if you fall down a pit. I heard this doesn't work on the European version, but I'm happy to report it's been retained in the Legacy collection, because man would that have bothered me if I had to use an item.

Take out the monkey before he goes ape shit. He's 8 shots with the buster and weak to topspin if you're feeling stylish. Normally you can just run under this next guy but I just waited for him to drop down and bounce over me. Make sure to slide for a clean getaway.

Wait for him to drop and let him hop over you. If you can't take him out run for the ladder when he clings back on the ceiling.

The lower road is bit longer but easier if you're just trying to beat the level with no damage. The slide mechanic makes MM3 a quicker game generally speaking. What do you think about the ability to slide ? Start a dialogue in the comment section.

This part I like to kite the bees back to the ladder before taking them out. And you can see 3 of them dissipated off screen making my job even easier.


This whistlin' dick is bit trickier thanks to the terrain. The middle height platforms are the safest place to stand, and his bullets won't his you unless you jump. Short hop then slide underneath when he approaches and you shouldn't haven't too much of an issue.

Finally it's hard man, and he's excited to see you. Get a couple shots in then jump to guide the first hard knuckle and hop over the second. Slide under, turn and get in a hit. Slide to the wall and jump against it to guide the first knuckle up and off the screen again. The main idea is to get the knuckles to disappear off screen. If you're not far enough the knuckles will retract and probably hit you. There's also this weird glitch I sometimes experience where I get stuck to the wall and it prevents me from jumping a second time. Overall, hard man isn't as hard as his name implies. Just get in a rhythm and take your time and don't try to finish him off too soon. You need to pace yourself or else he'll fist you.
