Well, two games are down and only one remains to take a journey through to unlock the final game. Let's get to it shall we?

The starting monologue by X basically shows he's quickly gotten over what happened at the end of the last game. He knows exactly what's at stake right now, even if it means having to destroy his closest ally in this war.

Right away, he gets called into action to save a fellow maverick hunter and finds destruction when he arrives at his destination. He immediately assumes Zero was responsible for this which...isn't that far off to assume in all fairness. Only one way to confirm it though!

In terms of navigation, the dash from the last game is replaced by a jump via the Shift button. Unlike the dash, you can use this jump to get past monsters on narrow pathways. Still won't help for enemies on ladders, but it does make the prospects of doing a low level game much more viable when you can skip past a greater portion of the enemy squad.

For now though, we'll just be nuking everything in sight.

Enemy wise, some enemies can die in one normal strike, most will die in two, and the giant trucker enemies tend to take three hits. X Missile MkI can deal with anything here in one hit if desired though.

Assuming you kill everything here, X should pick up a level a battle or two before the boss room.

Speaking of the boss room...X finds who he was coming to save, but the boss for this intro stage crashes the party. Turns out said party crasher is none other than Sigma as seen in his form from X5's intro stage. He claims to be too strong for X to handle before the battle starts.

...Sir, it's ok to make big claims about something, don't get me wrong. Just, you know, make sure you can back up those claims, got it? Sigma's damage, at best, is around 10-18 points worth, depending on what attack he selects.

For what it's worth though, X's damage isn't the best outside of using X Missile MkI. Considering Sigma's hp, it's best to dump any remaining WE Tanks you have on hand to ensuring you can spam the missiles. After two full WE meters worth of them, he should be weak enough that you can finish the job with regular attacks.

After the battle, Sigma somehow thinks he's won. A shame for him as some kind of portal opens up and out pops....Zero? Well, it's certainly not the original one, but he wastes no time exchanging words with Sigma shortly before planting a saber into his face, causing him to blow up.

X, understandably, is very defensive in believing it's the real Zero. During this exchange of words, another portal opens up. This time, future Zero's navigator, Ciel, comes through. Sadly, the time portal is now in cooldown mode. A shame because Zero had two more people lined up to come with him and lend assistance to X, Fefnir and Harpuia.

After Ciel introduces herself, X starts to believe this Zero is the real deal. Soon after, the trio goes back to the base and stories are exchanged.

Basically, the future Zero had the viral energy taken out of him which explains his new design. He can't remember who took it out of him though. He also mentions waking up in the future and saving Ciel from some rogue enemies.

Here's the big question though...where was X during all of this? Zero confirms what Mino Magnus mentioned back in the first game...X is dead in the future timeline.

Finally, Zero & Ciel's purpose for coming to the present time...to prevent the original Zero from being turned into Omega. Considering whomever resurrected Sigma and the other mavericks in this time came from the future as well, time is very short.

Before Zero's allies from the future can arrive, mavericks begin their assault. No time to wait for assistance. X & Zero are going to have to go do what they do best.

More next time!
