In this video, Metal Mutant, released in 1991 for the Atari ST by Silmarils.
We are the Metal Mutant (the ultimate battle machine that can morph into 3 main form, cyborg, dyno and tank) sent to planet Kronox to seek and destroy AROD 7, the supreme high tech tyrant. Our goal is to find useful upgrades on our way, solve puzzles and combat hostile lifeforms in nearly 130 screens/levels.
initially disappointing because you only have to kill things, If you persevere however, you begin to discover the game's appeal: well studied puzzles, 40 different types of monster to destroy and a good amount of weapons and gadgets to acquire in order to achieve final victory.
The graphics are great: the green-ish background makes a good contrast with the metallic colors of the robo-sprites. Speaking of sprites, they sports excellent animations and they emit digitized metallic noises. The rest of sounds fx and intro music are both equally made of high quality digitized samples. Even if the action is slow, the game is enjoyable and very playable once you pass the first screens.
