I had pondered starting this game on or around previous Independence Day holidays, but finally jumped on it this year, which seems like perhaps the most appropriate year yet. Metal Wolf Chaos provides a fun escape from the reality of the situation the US is in... yet it also manages to be frighteningly on-the-nose in its critiques, for a game that originally released only in Japan almost 20 years ago.

I remember catching wind of this game in the mid-2000's, when I had no means of playing it, and eventually seeing Murphagator's SGDQ 2014 cutscene% run, so when it finally got a PC Steam release I knew I ought to experience it for myself sometime. The cutscenes and dialogue absolutely do not disappoint; the gameplay has taken me some getting used to and figuring out.

I ran into some trouble in this first segment in one level where I was admittedly not ideally-equipped, but I also completely forgot about the stomp attack (which Jody even calls out at one point in the level, though I'm not sure whether I unwittingly ignored it or she got cut off). I realized my folly when I watched the first few minutes of Murph's run after my stream and saw him stomping damn near everything, so that's something I'll be looking to correct next time.
