Deadlink demo playthrough (Nextfest June 2022)
This game caught my eye as offering polished and fast-paced action, and it certainly delivers on that front. As you'd expect with a roguelite FPS, it offers procedurally-generated rooms, plenty of decision-making during the intermissions between them, and permanent stat upgrades from the main hub. It also seems to promise some variety in terms of character classes and loadouts.
That all being said, I feel like I am absolutely terrible at this game, and/or it quickly becomes brutally difficult, which leaves me particularly wondering exactly how far the game extends. I definitely felt like I was gradually picking up on some of the mechanics, so I certainly improved as I went along, but the enemies seem to quickly become more tanky, and once the game starts tossing advanced enemies at me it's very quickly game over.
I'm already drowning in roguelites in my Steam library as I'm terrible at any sort of completion with them, so this probably won't be something I pick up, but it absolutely seems like a solid choice for anyone who's up for the genre and the challenge.
