MetiKSP E17 | ATS12 - The ENIGMA Rescue Mission
owo' SEASON FINALE ;D;
Introducing a new class of rocket, originally developped by the
military division known as Lockhead Mariner. The Enigma is a
droneship based upon the Antelope and Skyweaver designs. As a
method to send larger payloads into orbit without requiring crew,
the Lockhead Enigma. Barring a larger payload space, the Enigma
uses heavy duty fuel tanks which drop in similare fashion during
Max-Q. Due to the placement of the tanks, seperation occurs like
this. Seperation main thruster are activated before seperation of
the fuel stagings, pushing the craft forwards with significantly
more force then the afterburners, the seperatrons ignite and with
a small margin of error, pushes the spent chambers away from the
craft down from starboard.
Coincidentally, the Lockhead Enigma was scheduled to test a small
capacity space station during the event of the Ceti crisis. The
launch provided an interesting turn of events as the launch is
quickly diverted into a rescue mission. Despite the original
loadout, the now experimental CCO prototype is loaded upon and
will be autonomously piloted to the final survivor of the Ceti
before loading them onboard before automatic rendevous with the
mothership Enigma. The enigma is an unmanned drone and thus it
will be forced to perform re-entry with the heavy cargo onboard,
something which has never been done before. However, this is moot,
as either way the Ceti mission was a flop, a failure and the crew
would've died either way. This one being the only chance out.
With the successful rescue, the lockhead mariner is comissioned by
the union to build 2 new crafts. Whereas funding for the new
Antelope 'X3' the next generation of the Antelope class cruisers is cut and the program is to remain under operation of the Antelope Theta and Delphi only - under strict FAA accords.
