MetiKSP E10 | ATS05 - ArCsat IV | Via Antelope Delphi
um um
3 Months prior to the successful mission of ATS04 - the second Antelope Ceti mission. The newest ship in the fleet, Delphi is completed. The Antelope Delphi is a heavier version of the Ceti. Mostly due to its more armored hull. The Delphi is intended for longer missions in higher orbit, and thus such, it was built for a much steeper re-entry profile. Mostly re-inforced on the wings. the Delphi will eventually be solely used for high eliptical or high eccentricity orbit missions, mostly for delivering payloads which require specific planes of orbits.
However, as the ATS05 mission is intended as a maiden flight mission. The flight profile for this mission is simplified, specifically under narrative of the ARC Constellations program. Which is currently under comissioned of the ATS05 to launch the ARC Sattelite communications fleet into low Earth orbit. The intention of the Arc sattelite fleet is to create a 3 point coverage around the world, essentially ensuring a broad communication network for providers around the Equator. Future missions of the Arc constellations hint at a possible geostationary constellation. Most of which is intended to be launched by the Delphi and its predecessors.
With thought for the previous mission, the now firmly strapped ArCsat IV alongside other components (extra fuel nacelles). The Antelope Delphi launches the ArCsat IV into an orbit of 73km without trouble, this is mostly due to it's intended capability of launching Satellites into higher orbit inclinations.
In this scenario the Antelope Delphi is to be exerted upon a very steep re-entry angle. This is to test its high inclination de-orbits which it will have to perform in the future. With its high grade re-entry tiles, it is expected that the Delphi will have to be routinely have its tile replaced. It isn't expected that the Delphi to be capable of fully expected to land safely, hence why the members have signed death waivers, in the case of fatality.
The ArCsat IV delivered its payload into orbit seamlessly, without any specific damage. :'D
