Here is a walkthrough of me going through Metroid: Other M for the Wii. I am getting a 100% completion which is only in terms of item pickups.

Samus finally finds a survivor, and then has to fight a machine that is seemingly controlled by a traitor. After that, we go to the another area of Sector 2, where Samus finally unlocks the Wave Beam, which lets her defeat enemies from before quickly.
