Big Boss reaches the area where a silo housing Metal Gear and its nuclear payload are located and proceeds to investigate the area in order to find the silo entrance. As he does, Big Boss is suddenly ambushed by Elisa's "perfect soldier" codenamed Null and is forced to engage him in a fight. During the fight that neither man is able to win, Null questions his inability to kill Big Boss due to his perfect kill record with their confrontation being interrupted as Cunningham and multiple soldiers arrive with Cunningham personally knocking Snake out while Null is ordered to stand down, an order with which he reluctantly complies.

Hours later, Campbell realizes that something is amiss as Big Boss hasn't reported back after starting his infiltration. Realizing that he was most likely captured, Campbell and Johnathan start putting together a rescue party to get to Big Boss' last known location and save him...
