MGS3: Snake Eater Walkthrough Part 1: Virtuous Mission (INTRO)
Hello dear gamers and welcome to my channel. Today, we are continuing my Metal Gear series walkthrough with the game that will take us back to the series' chronological beginning. Of course, the game in question is Metal Gear Solid 3 so sit back and enjoy the walkthrough.
About Game: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is 2004 stealth action-adventure video game developed and published by Konami Computer Entertainment Japan for PlayStation 2 with HD remaster of the game being released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PS Vita in 2012 alongside separate version for Nintendo 3DS. Like its predecessor, it received an updated version for PS2 known as "Subsistence" in 2005. It is fifth mainline game in Metal Gear video game series and serves as a prequel to the entire series, taking place 31 years before the events of 1987's Metal Gear. Upon release, MGS3 was met with critical acclaim due to its story, graphics, cinematic presentation and gameplay and today is considered one of the greatest video games ever made and is arguably most popular game in the series, having been followed by three sequels set before first Metal Gear game. It is also the final Metal Gear game developed within Konami Computer Entertainment before the series' creator Hideo Kojima left the company to found Kojima Productions in 2005. Due to this, Kojima's studio developed all mainline Metal Gear games released between 2006 and 2015 while Konami retained the intellectual rights to the series and served as its publisher until falling out between Konami and Kojima occurred in late 2015 at which point Konami fully took the rights to the series, retaining them as of August 2022.
Story of the game is set in semi-fictional depiction of the Cold War and takes place over the course of eight days between August 24th and September 1st, 1964, following Naked Snake, operative of FOX Unit, recently established special operations unit in the service of US' Central Intelligence Agency. On August 24th, Snake is airdropped into Tselinoyarsk, jungle located in USSR, his mission being to locate and extract a man named Nikolai Stepanovich Sokolov, Soviet rocket scientist-turned weapon designer who wished to defect to the United States along with his family in 1962 in order to escape having to work on mysterious and extremely advanced weapon desired by the Soviet leadership with Snake's commanding officer, SAS officer codenamed Major Tom having successfully gotten Sokolov and his family out of Soviet Union during that mission. However, during Cuban Missile Crisis that has occurred shortly afterwards, Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev has made a secret deal with then-US President John F. Kennedy; Americans will hand Sokolov over to the Soviets in exchange for them pulling out of Cuba. Due to the crisis having a potential of escalating into full-blown nuclear war, Americans agreed. However, two years later, CIA has received the information about Sokolov's location in Tselinoyarsk where he is continuing the work on the mysterious weapon under coercion, being held in an abandoned factory nearby and guarded by KGB troops. In order to ensure the mission's success, Snake is also set to receive a radio assistance from his old mentor, The Boss, a woman credited with establishing US' special forces and soldier famed for leading Cobra Unit, a special forces unit responsible for Allied victory in World War 2. Due to the sensitive political situation, Snake is also ordered to ensure that he is not seen or captured by the soldiers patrolling the area...
