[Moonblood] MAP23: Archipelago (UV-Max Demo)
7an archipelago this may be, but a vacation this isn't. largely because the whole thing is suspended over lava with very little room for maneuvering. i'll be honest i'm not entirely sure how i managed to hold together this run in particular; i took large chunks of easy preventable damage at a number of points and was inches from death most of the time. fortunately i only fell briefly at one point; that can be particularly deadly on this map as there's basically no way back up. i like to go to the right to start; it's easier to get the super shotgun that way, and allows clearing an area that otherwise needs to be dropped down in to. then the left side can be approached more cautiously as the firepower of the super shotgun means you can deal with things rather than running past them. the narrow walkways to cross the lava for the first time are pretty merciless; fortunately the room on the other side is pretty manageable, if exceptionally dark in places. sorry about that. then really the only thing standing in your way is a spider mastermind and a few other monsters. you could run past them and grab the bfg to take them on... but honestly i just found it easier to stand my ground. oh and there's a super obtuse walkover linedef to hit the last switch. i had to take a second to look that up in udb as i really just couldn't figure out how i triggered that the first time.
