Playthrough with Liu Kang. Mortal Kombat II was a really difficult game to beat in the arcades, and the Genesis port is just as hard -note the devs opted to set the default difficulty to the easiest setting! I have beaten this game before with a few characters using some dumb strats, but I wanted to try and find a new way to beat the game.

And eventually I did, with Liu Kang. It involves spamming his bicycle kick a lot. Most of the time, the CPU will just walk towards you. What you need to do is have a bicycle kick ready, and then when the opponent gets close enough, use the move. The opponent will try and do an attack, but should instead get hit by the bicycle kick. The timing of this is really difficult, but it can work. For some reason the CPU tends to get hit by Liu Kang's jumping kicks a lot. Note how both Rayden and Shang Tsung got hit by it over and over again, and didn't even try to counter. But then sometimes it doesn't work, as Baraka did counter it.

You have to get lucky with Kintaro. The plan is to sit there spamming low fireballs, as if he tries to use his own fireball, it'll miss. But he can get out of it with his stomp attack. Shao Kahn has the same strat as in the arcade version: stand in place, and keep kicking him as he walks up to you.

This is just a little thing I'd noticed which I've not seen before -look at how Reptile changes to Sub-Zero's stance at 10:08. It happens again in the second round, and then again in the third round. I wonder what caused that to happen?
