Today marks Round 2 of the Middle of the Pack Racing League (MPRL) Winter GR86 Championship for 2024 as brought to you on iRacing! We shall be taking a look back at all of the racing action which occurred on Wednesday 24th January, bringing it to you as if it were live!
In this round our drivers head to the American state of Connecticut to take on Lime Rock Park. Opened in 1957 and standing as the country’s third oldest road racing venue, the circuit weaves its way across the natural hilly terrain to create a short but sweet course where overtaking opportunities come quick and fast. Spanning only 1.53 miles in length, battles are expected to run lap after lap as drivers aim to break away from the chasing pack. It is no wonder why so many major series including IMSA and American Le Mans have raced here!
In the PRO class, following a dramatic round of racing last week, James Logsdon has taken the initial lead by seven points over Edwin Onofre. However, with so many of his peers on pace, Logsdon will be taking it one lap at a time today to try and secure back-to-back wins!
In the PRO-AM class, a phenomenal second place finish overall at Mosport has seen Jon Lauzon take to the top by eight points over debutant Julian Jones. Lauzon seemed to be in a class of his own last round, but many of his rivals will be keen to prove otherwise!
In the AM class, a surprise top five finish overall for Kirk Lane in our season opener has seen him open an initial lead of five points over Tim Chong. However, with the class’s drivers all eagerly pursuing the podium, can Lane stay ahead today?
