Today marks Round 5 of the Middle of the Pack Racing League (MPRL) Winter GR86 Championship for 2024 as brought to you on iRacing! We shall be taking a look back at all of the racing action which occurred on Wednesday 21st February, bringing it to you as if it were live!
Returning from the mid-season break, we charge straight back into the action with a visit to Japan for the commencement of the Far East Cup. With the country playing host to a double-header, first up is the lesser known but by no means less enjoyable Okayama International Circuit. Located near the city of Mimasaka, the 2.31 mile circuit places a major emphasis on track position with its 11 corners presenting limited opportunities for overtaking - especially in the second half of the lap where the width of the circuit tightens immensely!
In the PRO class, whilst denied victory at Watkins Glen following a post-race penalty, Jason Landry’s sizeable advantage of 25 points over Francois Shink is an undeniable indicator of his status as class favourite. Can anyone reduce Landry’s lead?
In the PRO-AM class, whilst beaten to the chequered flag by Jon Lauzon last round, Julian Jones’s phenomenal consistency means he leads by 30 points over Aaron La. Will Jones return to the top step today and extend his lead further?
In the AM class, a nail-biting conclusion to the Classic Cup has seen Nick Beyda take the lead by a single point over Kirk Lane. With Mark Senecal sitting only a further six points behind, we have the perfect recipe for intense action between the trio today!
Who shall return to winning ways as we get the second half of the season underway? Tune in and find out!
