This is the last time you’re going to see Miracle DX for a while, promise.

That being said, this is the real start of a real NDX solo unlike all those fragments I uploaded before. The format…Well, I kinda stole that from Muctales. While Muc’s doing a Dio and Mel run with different costumes for each battle, I’ll focus on Mel only and allow myself to use costumes more than once. There are a couple of reasons for that…First, there’s 25 bosses for Mel in the main game and she has only 22 costumes (not counting the lower tier ones). Another reason is that I won’t even use all of the costumes anyway; Momo has her own run, so she won’t appear here; Dio has the Crab and Bakura cotsumes too, so they’re not really unique (and not interesting, either); and finally, I’m not too keen on forcing myself to use something like the Bard costume with its limited attack options (not saying that I won’t use it at all, but I won’t make promises, either). I will try my best to feature a variety of character classes, though.

Also, this is going to be a long-term project. NDX is without any doubt the Tales game that offers the most options concerning combos: every frame matters, altering the Agility stat matters, critical hits (which always occur after a set amount of hits) matter, control mode matters, weakness / resistance hits matter…If you’ve spent two weeks to figure out a combo for just one early-game boss without even recording it, you know what’s up. I’m not saying that this will be the case for every boss; some uploads may be faster, but some will most likely take a lot of time.

To end this already too lengthy introduction, I just want to thank Muctales for all the insights, inspiration, and the motivation he gave me about this game. I probably wouldn’t even have picked it up if it wasn’t for him and his badassery at NDX, so massive props and thanks to him.

So yeah, Miracle DX. First boss and not much to say about him, but the Alchemist costume is a gimmicky tool for trolling. Although you might expect a lot of magic from it, the only spell it features is Indignation. Seems to be more than enough considering its massive damage output (500), but setting it up is another thing, of course. Luckily, Punch Machine acts as a ground trap that’ll send the enemy flying (even the heavy Miracle DX), buying you time to cast Indignation. Thunder Beam has good range and massive startup time, so you need to find good openings to use it. Bomb Rain is awesome to break penetrate and can be linked into Missile Secchi. Tekkyu Machine is quite a weird move which leaves you open for a long time without providing too great damage output (90), so careful when using it. Her neutrals are kind of a mixed bag; Kiiick enables a series of kicks which can down, Mel Bomb is basically Bomb Rain with just one measly bomb and ridiculous startup time, and Flying Thrust is great for getting past an enemy quickly while delivering a little hit. The alchemist costume also has 3 MAs which are apparently activated at differen levels of the EBG gauge: Black Hole when less than 30% of the bar is filled, Meteor Swarm / Storm when the gauge is at 30-60%, and Big Bang when it’s over 60%. The actual percentage that is shown on screen doesn’t matter – it refers only to how much the bar that indicates the duration of Overbrave is filled. However, you need to obtain all MAs through events and using materials. Since I only did the one for Black Hole, that’s my only outcome here, anyway.
