-Hard Mode
-No Damage
-No Ride Armor
-No stage hazard reduction
-No Speed Devil for the first 9 bosses

So we’re finally at the Sigma stages, things should get difficult now, right? Well…

Straight Nightmare (Shoulder Cannon – Cost: 14): More lazers, although this thing is more reminiscent of X’s Storm Tornado. It cannot be aimed and always travels in a straight line as the name implies, wrecking everything on its way and going through objects. 14 points are quite the cost, but they’re obviously worth it. As seen before with other shoulder cannons, you can jump just below an enemy and use this weapon to kill enemies above you, an option which is essential for making it through the vertical portions of this stage.

Stubborn Crawler (Leg Part – Cost: 12): Despite being outshined by Straight Nightmare in this particular stage, Stubborn Crawler is just awesome. It runs along the ground, but obstacles like walls won’t stop it. Couple that with very good damage output and situations with too much stuff on the ground are easily solved.

Here we are, and I’m forced to use the Speed Devil from now on. You should immediately see why not using it before was a good restriction for this run – Vile gets insanely fast with it. So fast that you can now just jump over the turtle enemies. Coincidentally, the ones in this stage are the last ones in Vile mode, so I don’t really get that advantage, but Speed Devil is still evil as all hell. The first portion looked difficult at first sight, but Straight Nightmare and Serotinal Bullet can wreck everything here. The miniboss isn’t even worth mentioning, as well as Launch Octopus. However, it is worth noting that you can easily cheese octopus by using ball weapons to more or less trap him: by continuously changing sides while attacking, Octopus will keep turning around to face you, losing his invincibility frames in the process. I didn’t abuse it too badly, but you could totally go for it. The only thing that you’d need to watch out for are his jumps and turning attacks with the pulling effect, but aside from that, you can cheese your way through.

The second part was the one part I was most scared about when starting the run. However, it’s not that difficult. Firing Straight Nightmare below enemies paves your way up, and with a bit of good timing, it’s not too bad to proceed unscathed. Boomerang Kuwanger…Well, I tried to be cheap here as well, but sometimes he will still just use his Boomerang and break your little loop. Still nothing worth mentioning.

The last part is actually a bit tricky and requires attention, something that the stage tries to take away from you by having some boss fights and generally being long. Don’t rush through here, stop at the right spots and use the right weapon and you should be fine. Bosspider has an interesting battle design; again, more than anything, you need to pay attention which way he’s gonna go and be quick about it. Serotinal Bullet acts as its weakness, but needs timing to actually hit. The little spiders that it sometimes drops can easily be destroyed with Stubborn Crawler. Sometimes though he will travel a bit on the webs and stop to just drop one of them in your direction, so you need to watch out for that (I think it only happens below 50%HP). The more quickly you destroy this guy the better, because it’s more a battle of attrition than anything.
