NES Alphanumeric! #035: ADVENTURES OF DINO RIKI
I live stream 8-bit Nintendo games at least once a week, usually WedNESdays from 10–11 p.m. Eastern, and sometimes on Friday nights.
MINI-REVIEW: This was extraordinarily challenging, and I'm not very good at shmups, but it was also a lot of fun. The combination of an overhead shooter with platforming is unusual and interesting, which is why I picked the game up in the first place. But the imprecise controls and forced scrolling also makes jumping tricky. If this were one of the only games I owned, I imagine I would stick with it and get really good eventually, but there are plenty of other, better games to play. DINO RIKI isn't a great platformer or a great shooter; when you put the two together, it becomes a weird combination that doesn't quite work but works well enough that I can recommend you give it a try. Fortunately, it's a cheap cart, so you'll easily get your money's worth.
