NES Alphanumeric! #042: CASTLEVANIA II: SIMON'S QUEST
I live stream 8-bit Nintendo games at least once a week, usually WedNESdays from 10–11 p.m. Eastern, and sometimes on Friday nights.
MINI-REVIEW: This is sort of a classic, but also an infamous one because it's so different from the other two NES Castlevania games and it's also rather unfair. I have always bounced off it when I've tried it in the past, but I'm beginning to get into it — though it still seems wrong and broken that you can't really progress without help. I really like the controls and the platforming sections are fine, if a bit repetitive; the RPG elements take a little getting used to. I really like the unlimited continues, which pick up right where you died, and the password system is essential. I plan to finish this one soon.
