First off, I'd like to rectify an error I made in the previous diary entry. According to KI, it was only going to take roughly 7-8 streams for me to beat Chrono Trigger when he factored in the sidequests. I guess there really wasn't ever any question that I'd be doing them in the first place. Which is fine, I don't really have an issue with that -- if it was factored into the initial estimate, then so be it. I just didn't want to end up with another game as long as Final Fantasy VIII. Well... not yet, anyway.
Anyway, finally made it to the Kingdom of Zeal with this stream... and by extension, the other piece of music from this game that I really liked from Chrono Trigger before playing it. Hobbes mentioned in the chat that he felt the same way. Having said that, it was a short stream this time around. I was getting close to the Mammon Machine by the end, and KI warned me that that's another big dungeon. So I figured I'd just call it quits early. Dari seemed a bit disappointed, but reassured me that I'd made good progress in the stream anyway.
The more of this game I've been playing, the more I'm realizing how little people actually talk about the story when they reminisce about the game. Like, there are a few key moments that I'm familiar with, despite going in blind (and one of them is coming up), but despite being hailed as one of the best RPGs of all time, it seems like fans of Chrono Trigger really don't like talking about the game's plot for some reason. Maybe the time travel aspect of the story makes things difficult to discuss?
KI has informed me that apparently after the big upcoming scene that I know about (and prepared for at the game's start), I get full control over my party. And I'm considering doing something a little unorthodox. Since the secret party member (who I'm also going for) is apparently a black mage equivalent with access to all of the elements and the fact that Ayla appears to be way, WAY better at physical attacks that Crono... I'm considering dropping him in favor of her, if the game ends up letting me. Would that be considered rude? Maybe there's a strategic reason to keep Crono around? I'm not sure. Since KI looked at the last one, I figured it might be more conducive to just mention it here and see if he's still paying attention. If not, I guess I'll just ask him during the next stream.
