There have been a ton of interviews done by Yoshi P on job adjustments, Dragonsong’s Reprise the brand new ultimate, pvp, dungeon balance and more and I’m going to do an overview of the juciest details.

Credits to KMillerby and the original news sites, and the original link is in the description and comments if you want to view the originals. I will be paraphrasing and doing an overview of the points as well as reorganizing the points into categories that are timestmaped.

So first up let’s talk job changes, Yoshi P made clear that most changes are buffs. But there are some actions, and I personally guess this means Scholar’s expedient, that have been overly effective and will be downtuned. Yeah Expedient… probably…

These changes however are going to change how some jobs feel in gameplay, citing that they acknowledge a risk of players current feel of their jobs getting confused. One example they cite is making dragoon’s jump more snappy.

They then said that even though ultimate comes 2 weeks after 6.1 they are still deciding to go ahead with this because there are still other forms of content like alliance raids, the new extremes, savages and so making it comfortable for the entire playerbase was important and he is confident players at the skill level to even attempt ultimate can adjust.

On that note, time to talk ultimate.
Weapons from the new ultimate are said that they might stand out more than usual. I for one am curious what this actually means and I hope tomorrow during the live letter they show previews cause given my personal preference that might really not be something I like… I worry…

Yoshi P did say that people who aren’t aiming for world first for dragonsong’s reprise but still attempt it seriously to set a timeline expectation around 4 to 5 months. But for people who are more casual and take it slowly it may take longer than TEA.

Yoshi P compared it to UCOB which at it’s release was considered universally harder than TEA and UWU. Where UWU and tea were more puzzle solving for the whole fight, but UCOB and the new Dragonsong’s reprise takes it steps further. End time is still under 20 minutes but will be very very long.

Yoshi P had some words about dungeons, revealing that the dungeon name wasn’t announced as it might make players form preconceptions about what it is and that he will be watching the reactions from the playerbase since it’s tapping into the development team’s mischeviousness.

We will be sticking to having one dungeon per patch.

In terms of the alliance raid myths of the realm, they put it as You could say this is close to being an epilogue to the hydaelyn and zodiark arc, with a difficulty set around the stormblood return to ivalice raids.

Now Yoshi P had a lot to say on pvp in the interviews and I’m going to try my best to condense it here.

The overall goals of the new pvp game mode is to increase how many people are experiencing pvp and that historical data from frontline indicates interest but there was a very intense hurdle for the feast game mode that also put a ton of pressure on healers.

So they wanted to make a game mode that could appeal to people more broadly that have limited amounts of time per day, especially considering the variety of activities in 14 where pvp isn’t the core aspect they want to make it approachable for pve players.

So they made this new mode called crystal conflict with objectives rather than just destroy the other players, and all jobs have some capacity to both output damage and maintain their own hp in a fight. There will be no role requirements.

The new mode will have matches last around 5 minutes and go into what they call sudden death, 3 maps on release one vanilla map with no special mechanics,, one with wind and getting caught in the storm and one with falling lava and lava zones.

Yoshi P did also mention that the feast might be coming back later because there was a lot of feedback asking that it is retained. But Yoshi P did say there was concerns about how balanced those modes would be given the changes with the newly introduced crystal conflict game mode.
