Ninja Assault goes down as perhaps the weirdest lightgun game of all time, unless you count Typing of the Dead, which isn't a lightgun game, but a typing game. Nothing says authentic historical accuracy like dumping mags full of rounds into ninjas in feudal Japan. Ah who am I kidding, it works. This game is fun, the concept is zany, and if you have a Guncon for the PS2, put this in your collection. You can also play it with a controller if you don't have a guncon, and it is two-player coop as well. It's rare that you can find a lightgun game weirder than Vampire Night, but they exist.

NOTE: Forgive my bad playing here. I am terrible at lightgun games.

Lightgun shooters really started to die in the 6th generation. The PS2 had the Guncon 2, while the Xbox had that really cool Silent Scope lightgun sniper rifle that you could break down into a smaller gun. The Wii kind of brought this genre back for a little while, because it was a work around to making them work on modern TV's.

I used my Retrotink 2X Pro, and y-splitter cables to capture this footage. I have a multi-console s-video cable, so I plugged the s-video into the RetroTINK, and then y-split the composite video to my CRT TV to play the game.
