His “friend and companion, the lovely Margo Lane, is the only person who knows to whom the voice of the invisible Shadow belongs”. Lamont Cranston and Margo Lane are paying a visit to commissioner Weston at police headquarters. They have just read in the afternoon paper about the murder of My Ryan the pet shop owner who disappeared so mysteriously the day before while delivering a cat.
