Photosynthesis is an abstract strategy game which has players each controlling a different species of tree as they try to garner victory points by planting seeds, growing trees and harvesting them in order to gain Victory Points in the form of these plant tiles.

Each round, the sun makes one complete revolution around the game board as players use their trees to capture its sunlight in the form of light points which they then spend to help their trees proliferate and grow.

Players have a small pool of trees and seeds that they can already use but as the forest grows, they will need to purchase and upgrade more from their personal player board.

The problem here is that there is limited space for all species of plants to successful grow. Players are essentially racing and competing to grow their trees the fastest to nab up the VP quickly before the other players.

Its like the post Christmas Boxing Day Christmas sale rush except it happens in slow motion….

For fans of board games like Chess, Checkers, Connect 4, Santorini, Onitama, Tak and Go.

The Board Game Sanctuary is a family friendly board game channel that aims to introduce the board gaming hobby to new and seasoned players in a light, fun and humourous way.
