welcome to my cover of Pigstep!! this project is a LONG time in the making lol. I finished this cover actually exactly one year ago: May 19th 2023. however, i've been in purgatory trying to edit this the way I wanted to. Going thru different ideas, trying different stories, nothing stuck. Then last month in early April, I threw away everything and started over from scratch lol. But now i'm genuinely so glad that it's finally done and you all can listen to it!!! :) never thought i'd finish this lol

so for the music, I had an amazingly fun time covering this. when you listen to Pigstep, I feel like it tries to fill you with this sense of absolute dread and terror, mixed with awe and wonder, translated through a sick nasty beat. I really focused on making my cover feel heavy and mysterious through lots of ethnic percussions, heavy bass and of course choir. After all, you do have to literally siege the piglins in order to hear their beloved disc lol it can't be a mellow soft song. I added a key change and solo towards the 2nd half too!! I think it's a pretty cool technique that a lot of other VGM cover artists have explored; play the song once as it would ingame and go absolutely CRAZY with a solo in the 2nd half. this is the 2nd time i've ever tried restructuring a song like this so let me know how you like it :D

and for the editing, I kinda went crazy. :) It's my first vid in 1920p60fps which is nice, but it made rendering quite a pain. As for the art, my boyfriend made the bases of the piglin performers and i animated them in the editing software itself. He made it really easy for me which is awesome, but animating all of their movements to the song (especially the drummer!) was EXTREMELY tedious. I will literally never edit performers like this again you can't force me it's so ridiculously monotonous lol. The end result looks great but man the effort is quite an expense.

for the background footage, I tried having it tell a story. It's supposed to reflect the normal Minecraft experience of getting your own Pigstep disc. It's of a minecraft character finding a bastion, finding Pigstep and escaping by the skin of their teeth. I ~tried~ making it cinematic and action-packed, but it kinda feels amateur lol. The main focus is the music so it's okay I think. Let me know if you like it :)

Next Minecraft cover will be Aria Math, just needs to be edited. After I make a few more Minecraft covers I plan on releasing an album collection of them alongside a resource pack to replace the song :D
