Our next storyline battle can in fact be handled singlehandedly by our underlevelled Spiritomb. Immune to lead Kadabra's sole attacking move in Psychic and taking pitiful damage from Bronzor's Gyro Ball, what with being equally slow and all, certainly not enough to break a substitute in two hits, Spiritomb is only threatened by Toxicroak (who tends to opt to attack with Thief), who falls to a Nasty Plot-boosted Psychic. If Spiritomb stays in for the whole battle, there is some variation in terms of how long, if at all, Kadabra stays in and if it does switch out which of the other two Pokemon are brought in.

Though it's easier to set up on Kadabra and sweep, I employ more of my team in somewhat more strategic ways. Kadabra may be walled by a dark-type like Spiritomb, but many of our higher-levelled mons can withstand a Psychic with ease and KO back with a physical attack. As Toxicroak is the switch-in in this video (and an immediate one too), I have Spiritomb KO it, getting badly poisoned from the matchup. I didn't try counting in how many turns it could die from the poison damage, but I was planning to use others for the other two matchups.

The unevolved Bronzor survives a Choice Specs-bolstered Water Pulse from Pelipper, so the latter gets the Amulet Coin, as it's a 2HKO, anyway. The rain then helps Golduck OHKO Kadabra with Aqua Tail when it switched back in.

Don't see why unevolved Pokemon are still used in major battles this far into the game, but I guess they did try to stay faithful to original Diamond/Pearl.
