Four short battles are included in this new video.

00:00 Sandworm

By this point, capturing enemies with Beastmaster and releasing them becomes a single-use form of damage (and utility) outclassing our capacity to inflict damage using regular means. Setting up the reduction of an enemy's HP to under 1/8 and capturing the enemies with the right skills offers many clever ways of overcoming new challenges.

Sandworm is not an enemy that's friendly to a low-level party at all. Its Quicksand ability may well be the first skill it uses, and it will cause 60 HP to the party, also inflicting Sap. Only by reclassing to specific high HP jobs and perhaps equipping Monk's abilities such as HP+30% is it possible to withstand the MT damage from this one, and then it's an uphill battle against HP being constantly drained by Sap. You can also hide away from it with Bard's skill, I suppose.

The solution I settle for is Aqua Breath. This non-elemental blue magick deals 8x damage to Desert type enemies, which the boss happens to be. It also costs 38 MP to cast, which is considerably more than Faris's max MP in any of her jobs. Luckily. a captured Dhorme Chimera can cast this spell for us, and I imagine with better stats to put into the damage mechanics, too? An Aqua Breath, followed by a Water Scroll from a Ninja, will end the fight.

01:09 Cray Claw

Haven't we fought this guy before? Cray Claw is lightning-weak, which can also be exploited by having the right Ninja scroll. I mentioned breaking rods being too gamebreaking and cheesy to ever appear in this challenge, but scrolls are essentially a sidegrade to that strat at this stage of the game. and Throw can be put on any class once mastered on a Ninja. I steal a sword because why not?

01:40 Ramuh

With 4,000 HP, Ramuh must be the healthiest of the enemies fought so far. He's got no elemental weakness either, so if done fairly this makes for a long battle. I choose to demonstrate one cunning stunt that can be pulled on any foe not immune to instant death. Ramuh can have his HP cut with gravity-type spells, reduced to such vitality that anything can kill him. He can also be banished by the likes of a captured Page 32, or - since I was lazy - downed by a Death spell from a Mani Wizard, an enemy from the game's first dungeon who's much easier to tame.

Before killing Ramuh, I make sure to learn the blinding Flash blue magick. This is accomplished by having Learning on as many protagonists as possible.

If you're wondering how a fight against Ramuh would go, it would be pretty boring. He can only kill one character at once (and usually does), and is somehow susceptible to Mini. Cast it on him, and he'll retaliate by Mini-ing your party in response, then proceed to assault them with thunder attacks. What's the point? Don't ask me!

02:42 Adamantoise

A Mani Wizard can repeat its strategy against this fearsome foe who relies on nothing but physical attacks (hello Cover strats), but the Death spell can fail, not to mention it's a boring strategy to repeat over and over again.

By now I've realised that pressing the turbo button as I encounter Garulas in the wild for free ABP is the best way of ABP farming I may ever have in this challenge, and I really go all out learning all sorts of skills. According to my calculations, I can accumulate about 100 ABP per character in around 4 minutes, making Rapid Fire and Doublecast in world 1 more than just a pipe dream. Both abilities are nowhere as overpowered as they would be on a run with levelling, with physical attacks being weak and Faris running out of mana instantly after casting two -ara spells on one turn, but I figured they'd be fun to have for as much of the run as possible. I figure I'll spend some more time working on mastering various builds before I leave World 1.

Adamantoise is ice-weak, meaning both Blizzara and Frost Bow Rapid Fire deal high damage. The former can only be done once without using Ethers or Elixirs, so Bartz carries this fight as my physical attacker of choice.
