I leave Jubilife City and start heading to Oreburgh City, but before that, Barry shows up and challenges me to a battle. He has two Pokémon on his team, so he shouldn't be too difficult, then I make my way through 203 in order to get to Oreburgh City.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

When you leave Jubilife City, your rival will stop you from progressing and challenge you to battle, he has two Pokémon. He leads off with Starly, which is Level 7, and it shouldn't be a huge problem if you have Shinx, and he has his Starter Pokémon at Level 9. He will have Piplup if you chose Chimchar, if you chose Turtwig, he would have Chimchar, and if you picked Piplup, he will have Turtwig. His Starter Pokémon does not have their elemental move, so Piplup will not have Water Gun, Turtwig doesn't have Leafage, and Chimchar doesn't have Ember, so it shouldn't be too hard, but watch out for Turtwig's Withdraw if you picked Piplup.
For Piplup, Shinx and Budew are good options against it, and for Turtwig, if you trained up Starly to Level 9 and got Wing Attack, that will help in the fight, otherwise Kricketot is a decent option, and for Chimchar, if you caught a Psyduck in Ravaged Path, its Water Gun can help in the fight.
After beating Barry, it is time to enter Route 203, and the nice thing about the one Trainer with the Kricketot is you no longer have to worry about Bide, this is because in the original games, Bide had priority, and if you dealt damage, after three turns, the Pokémon using Bide will strike back with double the damage you dealt to it during the three turns using Bide, I could only wonder how many people that played the original games had a Pokémon get taken out by Kricketot's Bide.
There is one new encounter on this route, and that is Abra, if you chose Chimchar for your starter, it learns Taunt at Level 9, and you can use it to prevent Abra from using Teleport, otherwise try your luck with a Poké Ball. If you do manage to catch Abra, it can make a good team member, not right now as Abra cannot deal any damage, and the removal of Hidden Power as a TM has hurt Abra quite a bit, because Hidden Power on Abra was what made it a good Pokémon early on. Once you evolve it into Kadabra at Level 16, it can start learning moves like Confusion, and if you have a way to trade it, you can immediately evolve it into Alakazam, giving you one of the best Special Attackers in the game, and one of the best Psychic-type Pokémon available in the game, Alakazam has a high Speed stat to make use of its great Special Attack stat, otherwise if you don't have any way to trade, Kadabra does have a good Special Attack stat, so it can find a way to work even when not fully evolved.
After Route 203 is Oreburgh Gate, and the Hiker at the entrance gives you the TM for Rock Smash, and you get a new Pokétch App which allows you to use Hidden Machines, but you will need the Gym Badge from Oreburgh City if you want to use Rock Smash. This is a decent Fighting-type move that lowers the target's Defense stat, Bidoof and Geodude are some notable Pokémon that can learn the move.
There are no new encounters in Oreburgh Gate, you can find Geodude and Zubat, but they can also be found in Ravaged Path. When you arrive at Oreburgh City, a kid will call you a noob, I am glad they kept that line in this game, but it did surprise how the word "noob" got into a Pokémon game, but anyway, he escorts me to the Gym, only to find out that Barry had already beaten the Gym Leader, and that said Gym Leader had gone to the mine, so looks like I get given an objective before challenging the Gym Leader.
